And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. (Acts 2:42)
Community Groups are where church really happens. Each week, we will meet together on Sunday mornings to celebrate God’s Son, get encouraged, and get equipped for our ministry. Then we scatter throughout Rocky Mount and surrounding areas, meeting in homes during the week.
It is in our Community Groups that we pray for each other, apply God’s Word to our lives, and hold each other accountable to our commitments. At EastGate, we model our Community Groups after the early church as recorded in Acts 2:42 – “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
- The Apostles’ Teaching – The Bible is our authority for teaching, and what we teach on the weekends comes straight from the Bible. During the week in our Community Groups, we learn how to apply the sermon from the previous Sunday to our daily lives.
- The Fellowship – You will form authentic relationships with those in your Community Group as they truly become your church family.
- The Breaking of Bread – When we eat together, we move from formalities to the kind of closeness that can only develop around the kitchen table. Each group does this a little differently, so check with your Community Group leader.
- The Prayers – Our Community Groups pray together and pray for each other. We believe that power for living the life God wants us to live only comes from the Holy Spirit and our communication with Him.
