Contribute to God’s Kingdom

Most of us want to feel like we have accomplished something, like the work we do is actually reaching some objective. We all want to be great at something and be thought of as influential. We want to look back on our lives and believe that we truly contributed to something of value.

In the book of Matthew, Jesus taught His disciples that being influential in His kingdom meant being a servant like Him. We too can be influential in God’s Kingdom by being a Christlike servant.

Confessing Our Mess

As we kick off the sermon series, “So You Think You’re a Christian?”, we look at the first movement of the Gospel, confessing our mess. When we fail to confess our mess, we limit God’s mercy and grace and we hinder fellowship with Him and our fellow believers. In 1 John, the apostle John taught that honestly dealing with our own sin in the light of God’s truth is necessary if we are to experience fellowship with God and others. We can experience fellowship with God and others when we trust that Christ forgives our sins when we honestly deal with our sin in the light of God’s truth.

Better Life

Who of us wouldn’t say, “I want to have a better life”? But what does that look like? What is the “good life”? In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he taught them that they had the freedom to choose between sin and death and righteousness and life. We can experience God’s purpose for our lives when we willingly offer ourselves to him. How can we redefine success from what the world tells us the “good life” is? We can be a tool in God’s hand and yield ourselves to God in service of righteousness

Living in Harmony

It can be hard to find a way to live in harmony with the culture around you. Do you feel that it is difficult to be a believer in your workplace, when your with friends or even at home? Do you sense this tension between being an authentic Christian and getting along with others in certain sectors of your life?

In Peter’s first letter to believers in Asia Minor, he tells them that they can live in harmony as exiles in their world by truly becoming God’s people. We too can live in harmony with our world by living as His people.

Living in Holiness

In Peter’s first letter to believers in Asia Minor, he tells them that they can live in holiness as exiles in their world as God’s chosen people. In this message, we learn some practical advice Peter gives us to live as a people set apart, or holy.

A Shared Family

Just as our physical birth means we are a part of a family, our spiritual birth makes us part of God’s family. The early church cultivated that shared family by being devoted to the fellowship. Learn how we can cultivate a shared family in our church today.

Paul: A Relentless Faith

In the book of Acts, we see that God used the relentless faith of Paul to expand and establish the church in the 1st century. We can learn from Paul how to have a faith that allows us to live for Christ, redefine our life’s value, and to care for the church.

Samuel: An Obedient Faith

In the book of 1 Samuel, we see in Samuel’s life how God cares about the condition of our heart and the object of our obedience. We can have obedient faith like Samuel by trusting Christ to give us a new heart that is in submission to His will. Our text today gives us three ways to have obedient faith like Samuel.

Grace-filled Generosity

Do you want to break out of the meaningless cycle of materialism? Or do you feel like you have nothing to be generous with? As we look at how the grace of God caused a chain reaction in the churches of Macedonia that overflowed into a wealth of generosity, we can respond to God’s grace by offering our whole lives back to him.
